Welcome

Braintree Beekeepers  is part of Essex Beekeepers’ Association (EBKA) and we currently have over 160 members who are keen to promote and support beekeeping in the local area.  Our division covers north Essex and has members from Braintree, Cressing, Great Leighs, the Notleys, Stebbing, Felsted, Great Easton, Silver End, Panfield, Rayne, Boreham and many other places in the area.

We are a friendly bunch and encourage new beekeepers to join us and will provide advice and training through an interesting programme of meetings and activities.   Some members are bee-farmers and have large numbers of beehives, others are hobbyists and have a few and some people don’t have any hives but like to come to the meetings and help other people.

Apiary meeting in White Notley

Between November and March we meet in White Notley Village Hall, The Street, White Notley, CM8 1RH on the last Friday of the month at 7.30pm.  In the summer months we hold apiary meetings at members’ sites so that everyone can get hands-on experience with the bees providing the opportunity to see what other beekeepers are doing and how they manage their colonies.

Once you become a member of Braintree Beekeepers, you will automatically become a member of Essex Beekeepers’ Association (EBKA) and the British Beekeepers’ Association (BBKA). There are eight divisions in EBKA and the nice thing about joining is that you can attend any division’s meetings and special cross-county events such as the Essex Honey Show held in September and the Annual EBKA Conference held in the Autumn.

A full list of Braintree’s meetings and special events can be found on our ‘Programme of Events’ page.  For additional information on beekeeping look at the websites of EBKA   and BBKA.   If you would like to join us or find out more information please go to our Contact Us page.
